Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Still Waters App ("we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with the Still Waters mobile application and this website (together, the "Service"). It applies to visitors and users of the Service.
Information you provide
- Optional profile name or display preferences you enter in the app.
- Prayer-journal entries you write and save.
- Questions and prompts you send to the AI Bible Companion.
- Messages you send to us through our support channels.
Information stored on your device
Saved verses, bookmarks, highlights, reading-plan progress, prayer-journal entries, preferences, optional profile name, and reminder choices are designed to be stored locally on your device.
Uninstalling the app may remove locally stored information, subject to device backups and operating-system behavior (for example, iCloud device backups). Restoring a backup may restore some of this information.
AI Bible Companion requests and responses
When you use the AI Bible Companion, your prompt is transmitted to an external AI service to generate a response. Please do not submit highly sensitive personal information (such as government identifiers, financial account details, precise health information, or details about others) to the AI feature.
The AI provider may process your prompt and other technical information in accordance with its own privacy practices. See Service providers and third parties for more.
Notifications and reminders
Prayer and reading reminders require your permission to send push notifications. Notification scheduling relies on the operating system's notification services. You can change or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
Purchases and subscriptions
Optional in-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple and may be managed through RevenueCat. Purchase, transaction, and receipt information may be processed by these providers in accordance with their own privacy practices.
Technical and diagnostic information
Third-party providers we rely on (such as the AI provider, purchase processors, and platform operating-system services) may receive technical information such as device type, operating-system version, language, IP address, and diagnostic data as part of delivering their services.
Still Waters does not include first-party analytics, advertising trackers, or session-recording tools. Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymized App Store diagnostics if you have opted in to share diagnostics with app developers in your device settings.
How we use information
- Provide and maintain the Service.
- Respond to your support requests.
- Deliver the AI Bible Companion, notifications, and purchases you request.
- Detect, prevent, and address technical or security issues.
- Comply with legal obligations.
Legal bases (where required)
Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR), we rely on performance of a contract, your consent, legitimate interests, or legal obligations, depending on the activity.
Service providers and third parties
The Service relies on the following categories of providers:
- Apple — App Store distribution, in-app purchases, and push notifications. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat — subscription management. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- OpenAI — powers the AI Bible Companion. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
Data retention
Locally stored information remains on your device until you delete it, reset the app, or uninstall (subject to backups). Support-email correspondence is retained for as long as needed to answer your request and to keep a reasonable record of the exchange. Information handled by third-party providers is retained according to their own policies.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information handled by the Service, including transport-layer encryption for network requests to third-party providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
International data transfers
Third-party providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required by law, appropriate safeguards apply to such transfers.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent. Because most of your content is stored locally on your device, you can exercise many of these rights directly in the app by editing or deleting your entries. To make a formal request, contact us at yv.app.dev@gmail.com.
California privacy disclosures
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law. Contact yv.app.dev@gmail.com to submit a request.
EEA, UK, and Swiss rights
Individuals located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland may have rights under applicable data protection law, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country of residence.
Children's privacy
Still Waters is not directed to children under the age required by applicable law in your jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact yv.app.dev@gmail.com so we can take appropriate action.
Links and third-party services
The Service may link to third-party websites and services. Their practices are governed by their own policies, which we do not control.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated where required.
